Well, look at that!  It's been almost 10 days since I posted something on here.

But, ya know what they say.....time sure flies when you are dealing with three cases of RSV and three sets of ear infections!

Oh....that's not what they say?  Well, okay then.  But, time sure does fly when you are dealing with three cases of RSV and three sets of ear infections.  How do I know?  Oh boy, how do I know.

A couple days after the onset of Addison's RSV we noticed that the other two were starting to cough, but weren't having trouble breathing.  We just kept watch, all-the-while suspecting that Addison had indeed tainted the latest batch of baby food with her cooties.  Everyone was handling it quite well though, so we weren't incredibly worried.

Until Early Saturday Morning....

Because you know what a new calendar year signals?  A whole new medical deductible, of course!  And when you know you are inevitably going to meet your out-of-pocket max by the end of the year, you might as well go for broke, right?  We thought so, so we loaded up the kids at 4 am and took them to the ER.

The kids were given a steroid to help them get over this crud faster, and we were given directions to give albuterol nebulizers every 3-4 hours (had already been doing this), keep them elevated, even when sleeping (had been doing this too), start a humidifier in their room (uh-huh), and to hold them in the steamy bathroom when the crud got bad (been there, done that, got the sweat to prove it).  The good news is, though, the steroid really helped them kick this crud quickly!

But fast forward a few days and we've got really fussy babies.  We suspect ear infections.  Well hello peds clinic, we haven't seen you in a week.  Let's go visit!

The verdict was ear infections all around with a referral to ENT for tubes (THANK YOU HEAVENS!!)  I haven't posted about most of their issues, but this is ear infection #5 for the girls and #4 for Noah.....since October.  I'm really over ear infections.

  1. Our granddaughter Riley, also a premmie, just not nearly as early as your's, has tubes. Doc said premmies are prone to ear infections. She still gets them but at least the ears can drain and she's not fussy. Lots of ear drops are used by her mom and dad and she can hear.

  2. Glad steroids helped! Glad tubes will help. When you go silent I guess things are being 'interesting'. Glad it will get fixed and look forward to more pictures and posts. Keeping fingers crossed for you all.

  3. My girl got tubes at 7 months due to chronic ear infections....let me just tell you...it will change your life. It did mine for just one baby....I can only imagine how awesome it will be with three feeling better.....and...it is super duper fast...like a 15 minute surgery and you are done and out of there 30minutes later. Good luck.
